Spanish Egg Producer Uses Markem-Imaje Coding Solution to Mark 180,000 Eggs Per Hour
Ink World

A Spanish egg producer is using a coding solution from Markem-Imaje to mark 180,000 eggs an hour while cutting operational costs by at least 20%. The continuous inkjet solution allows the company to change consumables without stopping the printers and reduces the number of printhead cleaning operations, while still meeting its traceability obligations with a high-quality code on each egg.

Development of sustainable polyols with high bio renewable content

European Coatings

Researchers have examined polyols with bio-renewable content and their applications in thermoset coatings. In the present work, by combining unique features and functionalities of two low-cost commercial commodity bio-renewable based materials – epoxidised soybean oil (ESO) and rosin – polymeric polyols with bio-renewable content > 78 % by weight have been successfully developed.

Design of icephobic PDMS-based coatings

European Coatings

Preventing ice accretion on exposed surfaces is important to the operational performance of various facilities and devices. As time elapses and temperature lowers sufficiently, ice accretion becomes inevitable. Herein, we present a new approach to prepare icephobic coatings by incorporating two strategies towards lowering ice adhesion strength, i.e. introducing an aqueous lubricating layer and maximising macro-crack initiators at the ice-substrate interface.

Highly stretchable and biodegradable superamphiphobic membrane for antifouling

European Coatings

A highly stretchable and biodegradable superamphiphobic fluorinated polycaprolactone (PCL-b-PTFOA) nanofibrous membrane with a hierarchical porous surface was prepared via electrospinning. Solvent evaporation-induced phase separation and fluorinated segment migration are the major reasons for the formation of hierarchical porous surface. The introduction of fluorinated segments (PTFOA) greatly improved the superhydrophobic and mechanical properties of the nanofibrous membrane.

Aluminum triphosphate-containing intumescence flame-retarding coatings
European Coatings

A facile preparation of flame-retarding coatings using aliphatic waterborne polyurethane as the binder has recently been described.

FUJIFILM Dimatix Launches DIMATIX Samba G5L Printhead Technology
Ink World
FUJIFILM Dimatix launched the DIMATIX Samba G5L, the latest generation in the Samba printhead family at the virtual PRINTING United digital experience. Leveraging state-of-art silicon micro-electro-mechanical systems manufacturing (SI-MEMS), the DIMATIX Samba G5L printhead has a unique parallelogram design on the nozzle plate to offer simplified printhead stitching – enabling integration in production environments.
Coating delamination mitigation of epoxy coatings

European Coatings

The mitigation of coating delamination is one of the important challenges for epoxy coatings under the cathodic protection. Scientists report the possibility to mitigate the coating delamination of epoxy coatings by inhibiting the hydrogen evolution reaction in the presence of thioureas. The wire beam electrode method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and traditional delamination test were employed to evaluate the mitigation efficiency in the work.

Waterborne hygienic coatings based on self-crosslinking acrylic latex
European Coatings

A new paper deals with a facile fabrication of environmentally friendly hygienic coatings based on acrylic latex comprising embedded inorganic nanoparticles originating from nanostructured ZnO and MgO, respectively, in the role of antibacterial agents.

UV and thermal dual responsive coatings

European Coatings

UV and thermal dual responsive coatings have been developed based on benzoxazine/polyacrylate/mesoporous TiO2. The reversible surface wettability coatings have excellent comprehensive properties.

PH achievement in phase out of lead in paint cited
Manila Bulletin

The Philippines’ historic achievement in the phase out of paints containing lead additives has been highlighted in the observance of this year’s International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW).

HP remains positive in PH market
Manila Bulletin

HP, one of the leading computer and printer brands globally, has maintained a positive outlook in the Philippines following strong demand due to work from home arrangements even as it strengthened its services to help in the students’ remote learning program of the Department of Education.
