PetroVietnam Coating JSC, a member of PetroVietnam Gas JSC, has won a contract to coat a 14-inch, 9.5km-long marine pipeline using anti-corrosion method and reinforced concrete as part of a mining project run by Thailand’s PTTEP Group in Myanmar.

The resin extracted from a native tree called almaciga (Agathis philippinensis) has long been traded by the Philippines under the name of Manila copal. It is used to manufacture varnish, lacquer, and paint. Traditionally, it has also been used to start fires, as an ingredient in making incense, and as a fumigant against mosquitoes.

DIC Corporation announced its wholly owned subsidiary, DIC (China) Co., Ltd., wholly acquires Chinese coating resins manufacturer Guangdong TOD New Material Co., Ltd. headquartered in Guangdong Province, China (TODNM). The price of the acquisition is undisclosed. This acquisition supports ongoing DIC Corporation efforts to expand its Asian market coating res-ins capacity, focused particularly on China—the world’s largest coating resins market.
